The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words “rei” meaning universal and “ki” meaning life force.
We are alive because of the energy flow within our bodies, this energy is the life force, and when this energy force is disrupted, emotional or physical problems can occur. Reiki is a healing technique which can aid the healing of any physical, mental, emotional and spiritual issues.
Reiki helps balance the body and when the body is in balance the body will heal itself. It is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive technique and the client remains fully clothed at all times. The therapist channels this energy through their hands, activating the body’s natural ability to heal itself. During the Reiki treatment the recipient may feel different sensations such as warmth, coolness, floating sensations, tingling, seeing different colours, deep relaxation, deep emotions & peacefulness.
Physical and emotional problems can occur when we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves. Negative thoughts and feelings which arise, for example, through emotional or physical trauma, lack of confidence, fear, worry, low self esteem, suppressed anger, can cause a disruption in the flow of energy and thereby emotional or physical symptoms can develop.
